The Atchafalaya Heritage Area has been designated by Congress as a National Heritage Area.
Located just off of I-49, nine miles north of Alexandria, this Welcome Center is an ideal rest stop for those traversing Louisiana from either the north or the south. Travelers will find complementary coffee, restrooms, as well as picnic areas. This center is located along the southern edge of the Kisatchie National Forest and you will find a statue onsite celebrating the contribution that the Civilian Conservation Corps made to both Louisiana and the entire United States.
